The Richmond Trial Advocacy Board (TAB) is a student-run organization that promotes the development of litigation skills through organized competitions and training sessions with practicing attorneys.
TAB invites students to become members of the board based upon their performance in one of two intrascholastic competitions. The first competition is The Trial Advocacy Board Competition, which is held in the fall semester and is open to first and second year law students only. The second competition is The Virginia Trial Lawyers Association (VTLA) Competition which is held in January. Traditionally, VTLA is open only to second and third year law students, but first year students may compete if slots are available. Both competitions require students to master the basics of trial advocacy and trial preparation.
