2L Skylar Shafer interned for the Honorable Junius P. Fulton III, of the Court of Appeals of Virginia in Norfolk, during his 1L summer.
How did your summer job help influence your current interests and career aspirations?
I really enjoyed appellate work and found working with a judge to be great! It increased my interest in clerking.
What advice did you get that was particularly helpful in your job search?
Apply in bulk, apply to a ton of opportunities and apply early! My internship cut off their application period before many of my friends had even begun applying to summer internships.
Which CDO resources were particularly helpful during your job search?
Panels of students talking about their own job search for judicial internships were important for learning about what a day in the life was like.
What advice or information would you like to share with other students?
The job search is a marathon, apply early and apply to many opportunities, it is a numbers game, put yourself out there!
