Richmond Law Spring Recruitment Programs

There are several methods by which you will apply to employment opportunities. One way is by participating in recruitment programs sponsored by the Career Development Office (CDO). Recruitment programs (or “interview programs”) are structured events to which Richmond Law (alone or in collaboration with co-sponsors) invites employers to interview applicants for part-time school-year, summer or post-graduate employment. Interviews may be in-person or virtual. As the busy winter/spring recruitment season opens for your class, here is a brief summary of upcoming initiatives.

Government & Public Interest Interview Program (GPIIP)

Summary: GPIIP is a collaborative effort of the law schools at William & Mary, Washington and Lee, and the University of Richmond. Employer participants include public sector organizations, government agencies and courts from Virginia and Washington, D.C., primarily. Employers will interview all class years for summer and post-graduate positions. Interviews are virtual; however, some employers may elect not to interview on the program date, and instead collect resumes and schedule interviews later at a time and place of their choosing. Resume collection employers are noted in the system at the time you apply. Students select the employers to which they will apply (up to 30 applications), and employers review applications and select students they want to interview.
Program Date: Friday, February 7, 2025 (one day only)
Application Deadline: January 13, 2025
Format: Virtual
Application Platform: Virginia Commonwealth Law School Consortium (VACLSC) Symplicity
Interview Platform: FloRecruit

Spring On-Campus Interview Program (Spring OCI)

Summary: Spring OCI is a recruitment program exclusively for Richmond Law students. Employers typically are law firms seeking 1Ls and 2Ls for summer employment and 3Ls for entry-level positions. Employers may elect to interview in person or virtually on a specific date, or to collect resumes and schedule interviews later at a time and place of their choosing. Resume collection employers are noted in the system at the time you apply. Spring OCI is organized into weeks in late January and February. The first week (late January) is for first-year students exclusively because of the additional time necessary to calculate upper-level grades and ranks. Students select the employers to which they will apply, and employers review applications and select students they want to interview. Though we have designated program weeks, we welcome employers to campus at their convenience following the program.
Program Date: Beginning Monday, January 27, 2025
Application Deadline: January 10, 2025, for Week One; continuing thereafter
Format: Hybrid (virtual and in-person interview days)
Application Platform: LawQuest
Interview Platform: LawQuest

Spring Interview Program (SIP)

Summary: While we do not anticipate there will be 1L summer opportunities available through this program, we want you to be aware of it because of the similarity of its name to Spring OCI and because you may participate in the future. SIP is a collaborative effort of the law schools at William & Mary, Washington and Lee, the University of Virginia, and the University of Richmond. Participants primarily are small and mid-size law firms from Virginia interviewing for post-graduate positions. Some employers may seek second-year students for summer positions. Interviews are virtual; however, some employers may elect not to interview on the program date, and instead collect resumes and schedule interviews later at a time and place of their choosing. Resume collection employers are noted in the system at the time you apply. Students select the employers to which they will apply, and employers review applications and select students they want to interview.
Program Date: March 21, 2025 (one day only)
Format: Virtual
Application Platform: VACLSC Symplicity
