  • Do something legal this summer! This may include working with a law firm or at a public sector organization, volunteering with a judge, researching for a professor, etc. Remember to be professional and treat the position as a summer long interview.
  • If you are participating in the Summer Public Service Fellowship Program, review and complete the Professional Development Plan within one week of beginning your summer employment and discuss your responses with your summer supervisor. The Plan is designed to help you anticipate some of the challenges you may encounter this summer and develop strategies to manage them effectively. The Plan also will help you think about how to maximize your summer experience for your professional growth.
  • If you are still seeking the right opportunity, continue to check Symplicity for summer employment. Many employers contact the Career Development Office (CDO) after the end of the school year. Let employers, especially smaller firms and state government agencies, know you are available for part-time and/or summer employment immediately.
  • Meet as many people as you can to expand your network, talk about career options, and assess your own interests. Update your employment search network tracking document.
  • Review summer emails from the CDO for employment opportunities and application deadlines.
  • Under the OCI tab in Symplicity, review and research employers registered for the August/Fall On-Campus Interview Program (OCI). The preview period began June 1; the application period opens July 5. While this program primarily is for 2Ls, there will be a few opportunities for 3Ls.
  • Beginning June 15, apply to employers registered for the New England Interview Program (NEIP) through the OCI tab in Symplicity. NEIP applications are due July 5.
  • Research and identify employers of interest who are not participating in OCI. Review your target list with your career advisor and begin preparing your application materials for those employers.
  • If you plan to participate in OCI or apply for other opportunities, send your resume and cover letter drafts to your career advisor no later than Monday, June 27. You will receive feedback by Friday, July 15, so you can make revisions before the first OCI deadline.
