The Local Government Attorneys of Virginia (“LGA”), a statewide organization consisting of attorneys who represent the interests of local governments or local government entities across the Commonwealth of Virginia, is pleased to extend a scholarship opportunity to law students for attendance at the LGA’s upcoming Fall Conference in Roanoke, Virginia on October 15-17.

The scholarship covers the expense of participation in the continuing legal education portions of the conference and social networking activities on Thursday and Friday evenings. Lodging is also available for certain scholarship recipients.

Conference attendance provides law students with the chance to interact with both in-house local government practitioners and attorneys who work in firms that provide representation to the various jurisdictions in Virginia. The CLE programs include a diverse range of topics including land use, sign ordinances following the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision in Reed v. Town of Gilbert, social services, ethics, ADA, and FMLA, plus a judicial panel of federal and state judges discussing trends in the laws impacting localities. This conference also marks the LGA’s 40th anniversary with special guests in attendance including former governors, judges, and founding members of the organization.
