Documentaries

Our discussion focused on the ability of documentaries to mislead people into believing everything they say is true. We discussed how the word documentary seems to lower our guard and make us more willing to accept seemingly unfounded claims as hard fact. We also discussed numerous specific examples of documentaries that do this, for instance the 9/11 conspiracy documentary “Loose Change.” We discussed how documentaries are not about informing people but rather are pushed by a desire to make money.
