Distributing Multimedia Files To Students
Information Services and the Faculty Hub are asking that, to the greatest extent possible, faculty upload all audio- and video-based learning materials into Panopto through your Blackboard course rather than uploading them directly to Blackboard, or to Box. This includes Zoom meeting recordings, clips of films you might want to provide to your students, and any other audio and video materials. Multimedia files you create by accessing Panopto through Blackboard will automatically be uploaded to the correct location. See the final section of this document for technical instructions.
Collecting Multimedia Files From Students
Students cannot upload videos into Panopto. If you need to collect audio or video assignment submissions from students, please create a Box folder and share it with your students for them to upload files. If you want other students to view these video files, you can share the Box folder with them, or upload the student files into Panopto the same way you would your course materials. Please do not collect multimedia files via Blackboard assignments, test, surveys, etc. See the final section of this document for technical instructions.
Why We Are Doing This?
We understand this may require a slightly more complex workflow for faculty and students. We are asking you to take these additional steps to prevent any problems with reaching institutional storage capacities.
