Coming from a rough upbringing in the streets of Staten Island, the members of the Wu-Tang Clan grew up during the War on Drugs and the crack epidemic (1980s). With the odds stacked against them, nine inexperienced members came together to create a unique, yet cohesive unit and sound.
The Wu-Tang Clan created a unique and influential sound in their debut album “Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)” through the use of their influential technology, crafty sampling, raunchy skits, and unfiltered lyricism. These aspects, combined with the group’s technology behind the album, created the sound of underground rap music in New York. Their backgrounds helped shape a new lyrical style that was influential to the industry and created multinational success.
