How To Participate

Participate in More About Us, a UR Community Disability Visibility Oral History Campaign using StoryCorps DIY

Last Day to Participate, Monday, May 13, 2024

Step 1: Create an Account

Create an account in the StoryCorps Archive Online and join the More About Us recording community using the link https://archive.storycorps.org/communities/more-about-us/register and the community code SpiderDisabilityPride.

Step 2: Decide how you want to record and with whom:

Option A: Record live at the Technology Learning Center at Boatwright the week of March 31-April 5  with a chosen conversation partner or a member of the More About Us team by requesting a time at https://blog.richmond.edu/moreaboutus/

Option B:  Record on your own with your chosen partner using the StoryCorps App for mobile devices or StoryCorps Connect for PCs and Macs.

Step 3: Prepare

Choose your questions with your conversation partner. A list of suggested questions can be found at https://archive.storycorps.org/communities/more-about-us/

Step 4: Record

If recording on your own, practice using the technology, find a quiet place and press Record. If recording with us, come to TLC on the 2nd Floor of Boatwright and let us do the rest.

Step 5: Preserve your Recording for History and Decide with Whom to Share

If recording on your own with the StoryCorps App or StoryCorps Connect, follow the prompts to archive your story using keyword #MoreAboutUs. If not using either (or for trouble-shooting), go to https://support.storycorps.me/hc/en-us/articles/227311828-How-do-I-submit-interviews-to-a-community-on-archive-storycorps-org.
