The #MeToo Movement is the inevitable reckoning for male executives who have long abused their power and taken advantage of vulnerable working women. The movement results from America’s history of sexual assault in the workplace and would not be possible without congressional action during the 1960s and ‘70s, nor would it exist without the Supreme Court’s judicial precedents in favor of victims of sexual assault. The #MeToo Movement took years to come to fruition, but today’s society is a perfect storm of guilty male executives paired with the increasing popularity of feminism and equality, all of which is published on social media.
