How to Vote in Virginia
- Not registered? You can register by the above deadlines or even on Election Day using same-day registration—but expect to cast a provisional ballot.
- Prefer to mail in your ballot? Virginia offers no-excuse absentee voting. You can request to receive ballots for all future elections by joining the “permanent absentee list.”
- In-person voting? Early voting locations are open on weekdays, and select Saturdays. On Election Day, polls are open at your precinct. You can look up your polling locations online.
Long story short: If you’re not registered yet, you have until October 24 for a fully counted ballot (or you can still vote via provisional ballot through Election Day). Registering is easier than it looks and can be done entirely online! Whether it’s a local, state, or federal election, staying informed about upcoming voting opportunities and deadlines helps ensure your voice is heard. Take time this fall to check your registration status, learn about the candidates and issues, and make a plan to vote!
