We are excited to announce that Madeleine (Mads) Ball has joined the library as our new Student Services Librarian! Mads brings a wealth of experience and a strong passion for supporting students in their academic journeys. In this new role, she will be working closely with students to provide resources, guidance, and assistance to help them succeed both in and outside of the classroom.

Originally from Dallas, Mads began her academic journey in Iowa before pursuing law at William & Mary. While there, she served as the Notes Editor for the William & Mary Law Review. Her article, Nerf This: Copyrighting Highly Creative Video Game Streams as Sports Broadcasts, earned the award for Best Student Note in her final year. After law school, Mads moved west to practice intellectual property law, first with Dechert LLP in Palo Alto, California, and then with Latham & Watkins in Austin. As an attorney, she was a member of two trial teams, focusing on intellectual property litigation.

After several successful years in law, Mads decided to transition her career and pursued a Master of Science in Library Science at the University of North Texas. This exciting new chapter led her to join our library team, where her diverse background and expertise will greatly benefit our student services.

Please join us in welcoming Mads to the team! We’re thrilled to have her on board and look forward to the positive impact she will undoubtedly have on our library community. Feel free to stop by her office (L168) and introduce yourself!

Welcome Mads Ball!
