Many textbooks and e-resources can be accessed offline. Whether you’re using an e-textbook for exams, or looking to study on the go, set yourself up for success by making sure you can access your materials. Below are step-by-step instructions for various vendors:

 

Lexis Digital Library

How to download titles

  • You can download titles for offline use in the LexisNexis Digital Library app, Chrome, Firefox, or Edge. The number of titles you can download depends on the storage space in your browser/device.

How to use the digital library offline

  • You can read or listen to downloaded titles and access your annotations offline using the LexisNexis Digital Library App, Chrome, Firefox and Edge.
  • Once you’re offline, you can find all of your downloaded titles under My Books > Downloaded, and access your annotations from My annotations.
  • If you make annotations in a downloaded book while offline, they’ll sync when you’re back online.

 

West Academic

Access Content Offline

  • Download the VitalSource Bookshelf App. VitalSource app allows you to read books offline and sync notes and highlights to help you study.
  • Download the West Academic Audio App to listen to audio files offline. Audio app provides offline access to audio content and audio lectures.
  • Titles in the West Academic Study Aids Collection are available for offline reading in the VitalSource app.

Getting Offline Access

  • Sign in to subscription.westacademic.com.
  • Search and select the book you’d like to read offline.
  • Once in the book, click “open in eReader” to open the book in the VitalSource eReader.
  • NOTE: if this is your first time opening the VitalSource eReader, you’ll be prompted to complete your VitalSource account. Use the same email used to create your West Academic account (your richmond.edu email address).
  • Download the VitalSource Bookshelf desktop or mobile app and sign in.
  • In the VitalSource app, select the title you want to read and download the book while connected to the internet. Once the book has been downloaded, a small checkmark will appear in the corner of the title and will be available for offline reading.

Audio App

  • Download the West Academic Audio app, and sign in
  • browse or search for an audio title
  • download an entire title or individual track, click play!

 

Aspen Learning Library

Casebook Connect

  • Log in to your Casebook Connect account.
  • Open your eBook.
  • In the toolbar, click on “Offline”, then “Save for Offline Use”.

 

Carolina Press

Accessing eBooks

  • On cap-press.com, click “Account & Ebooks” at the top of the page.
  • Log in with the same username and password used to make your ebook purchase.
  • You’ll be prompted with your list of ebooks, with a “Read Now’“ button.
  • Use same instructions for opening a title with the VitalSource Bookshelf app.
