There are two new exciting resources available for conducting original research at the University of Richmond’s law library. The American Civil War Collection 1860 – 1922 and The Civil War: Antebellum to Reconstruction, 1840 – 1877 feature newspapers, government documents, and other rare printed materials from the era.
Both collections offer a unique opportunity to research the social, legal, and political climate of the United States and the Confederacy with primary materials. Each collection holds a variety of materials from addresses to posters and poems which can be browsed by genre, subject, author, history of orienting, place of publication, or language.
The American Civil War Collection, 1860 – 1922 focuses on materials related to the economic, military, political, and social aspects of the period. The Civil War: Antebellum to Reconstruction, 1840 – 1877 focuses on politics, society, and daily life during the period.
