ISIS Striking Fear

News on ISIS continues to grow, they are striking fear into the minds of Christians as they start turning churches into torture chambers and forcing them to convert to Islam. There are reports of ISIS members that are cutting off the limbs  and even crucifying christians who defy the militants. They even go to the extent of children and destroying churches and selling artifacts. ISIS is making their destruction well know, they even waged sickening campaigns of culture vandalism by demolishing ancient christian holy sites across Iraq and Syria.  The photo below is an example of one ancient holy site that the ISIS campaign destroyed. This ancient place is called Mar Elian monastery in al-Qarytain, and was first founded 1,500 years ago. They will stop at nothing in order to have their fear present in the minds and hearts of christians in Iraq and Syria.

Shockingly, research shows that a christian dies every five minutes throughout the world standing up for their faith and what they believe in.  ISIS stated that, “There goal is to wipe out Christianity.” This is a scary truth with the world we live in, and whether we like it or not ISIS continues to grow.

Sometimes we forget how fortunate we are to live in the U.S. where we have safety, freedom, and equality. However, the people, mainly Christians, in Iraq and Syria live in fear because of their choice of religion.  It is almost unthinkable that such cruel acts of violence is happening in our world now as we speak.  It’s a sobering feeling that Christians  in Iraq  have to fear for their lives in order to stand up for what they believe in.  This article helped me be more appreciative of what I have and I am blessed to live in such a great country.
