Oil and Water- Sofía Ramírez

The prolonged contamination caused by Texaco and other oil companies in the Ecuadorian Amazon is a major threat for the survival and welfare of the communities that live in the surroundings of the territory in which these businesses operate. The 2014 film Oil and Water documents the long term commitment of two young adults to significantly reduce the impact of the oil industry in the rain forest. Hugo leaves his tribe and comes to America to defend the rights of his community, while David leaves the US and travels to Ecuador in order to promote a safer oil system. While Hugo wants to become a wise leader to help his tribe in times of crisis, David wants to transform the operations of one of the most powerful industries of the world. Will 8 years or continuous work will be enough for both men to provoke a meaningful change in the upper Ecuadorian amazon?
