Embrace of the Serpent

The recently produced Colombian film, Embrace of the Serpent, takes place deep in the Colombian Amazon Basin in the states of Vaupés and Guainía (Guerra, 2015). The film chronicles the interactions and journey of the last remaining shaman of the Ocaina tribe over two time periods, one in the early 1900’s and the other in the 1940’s, at the urging of two Western researchers.
