More data that people unintentionally judge women less competent

From Lillie Mucha:  I’ve often wondered if practicing gender-blind evaluations would be effective in changing the hiring practices of male-preferential fields. There’s evidence that people even unintentionally judge women to be less competent (see link to paper below). The only problem I can see arising with that is if women systematically sell themselves short.

This is an interesting concept–and one that we should consider.  It is consistent with the data reported in the AAUW slides 7 and 8 (Why so few? powerpoint slide set).
