Posting Comparative Essay PDFs to Blog Site
Ryan Brazell visited us in class to share with us how to post our comparative essay PDFs to the blog site. Here are the instructions, so that you can refer to them at any time. If you post the PDFs this way, you will be able to both read the PDF in your browser, and also to download them to read offline or print. Here are the instructions:
- On the post editor window, click the Add Media button.
- Drag and drop your PDF file into the window, or click Select Files and find the file’s location on your computer.
- Once the file has been uploaded, you’ll see it listed in your Media Library with a blue box and a check around it. Look to the right and, under Attachment Details, find the URL box.
- Highlight and copy the URL listed.
- Close out of the Insert Media window using the X in the top-right corner. (Don’t hit the “Insert into Post” button).
- In the post editor window, paste the URL directly into the text box.
When you publish the post, WordPress will automatically turn the link into an embedded PDF. That PDF will display not only on the student sites, but also on the course hub when the post is pulled through. By hovering over the PDF, you will see a series of icons along the bottom of the embedded window that allow you to print, save, etc.
