My research is largely aimed at revealing how human nature works within the context of a utopia. For me, I believe it is evident that the human population is made up of many types of personalities and characteristics. This is no different within a utopian community like Oneida. The foundings members, I believe, had to have similar personality types and psychological makeups in order for this specific intentional community to be appealing. However, once their children grew up within the community, not all of them adapted to a similar mindset. This is an inherent issue combating the longevity of such communities. I believe it is very difficult for families to thrive for generations in utopian communities. I believe More would have appreciated how Oneida materialized but would not be surprised by its end outcome.
