Blog Post #3

This week I am reflecting on thinking historically. I think this is very interesting because growing up, I never thought about social studies in this way. You really have to take the information and reflect it and use it a way that make sense to you. Once you do that you have to be able to question the information and even put into your own words. I think that the literary circle and the book I am reading is a great way to start thinking historically. I did the bridge builder and I found that I was relating everything to myself and taking the context of the history and applying it to todays life.

  1. Hello Haley,

I am glad you are getting a new experience about how to teach and learn about history. The consensus of your classmates is that most of you did not learn history in this way. Experiencing history like you are getting the opportunity to do in our class will hopefully make an impact on your desire to approach your own classroom practices in this way. I am interested in knowing some specifics about your experiences in class that led you to your summary comments. What were your “aha” moments?
