As I start the arduous journey of consolidating my thoughts into coherent words and overlapping them with theoretical principles I’m finding myself making actual business plans.

I’ve mentioned that my family volunteered with an organization focused on serving refugee and migrant populations last year, Viva la Casa. Upon further research, I’ve found that this organization assists asylees who are hoping to transition to Canada, not the US. With that, I have come across four organizations also in the city of Buffalo that focus on assisting transitions to the US, with several offering language courses and internal job boards.

It’s not secret that the city of Buffalo has been on a steep decline in recent history, with people leaving the city in droves in hopes for residence in places with more economic opportunity and less snow. Unfortunately, there’s not much I can do about the snow, but I do see an opportunity to help with creating avenues for more economic opportunity while having the city serve as an example of social change leadership through the inclusion of migrant populations.
