Wow Wow Wow

One of many lessons I will take from the Germans- Say what you mean and mean what you say.

I was very skeptical about coming on this trip. Excited, but skeptical nonetheless. I enjoyed our class meetings (even the Saturday mornings), but I wasn’t sure that our group would vibe once our travels began. Thankfully, we don’t have these problems AT ALL. The most interesting aspect over our first few nights have been our discussions after class. Sure, we spend the night having lots of fun and learning more about each other through a friendship bond, but we have also been discussing some heavy topics.

These are the types of conversations that cast the introvert in me aside and release the full force of the extrovert. Great discussions that incorporate life experiences across backgrounds, cultures, and experiences are more fruitful than any classroom lecture could ever be. With that, many of the lectures of this program have sparked these late night conversations, taking the learning from a one hour lecture to a three hour, no limits discussion.

As we discussed border security and country’s building walls I realized the walls that have been eliminated within our group, and I am excited to advance this momentum and dive deeper as a group.

    Steven,
I was thinking the same thing! We truly did have some meaningful discussions about such issues as discrimination, immigration, cultural differences, and generational gaps. All in a seemingly casual and relaxed setting, and yet these discussions sparked some very interesting thoughts. You can never underestimate the importance of team-work and collaboration in an informal setting. Nobody pushed us or gave us assignments but we learned and discovered many things that we would probably never learn in class (due to sensitivity and time restrictions). I am starting to think that this was the plan all along! 🙂 We need to have a chat with our professors and find out. LOL
