Flanigan Reading Response

Flanagan’s article brought up a lot of interesting points. I neither agree nor disagree with what she says because the points she brings up in her arguments make sense but they are not necessarily what everyone will agree with. I would say I’m neutral, however, I think I would lean towards the disagree side more. I understand where she’s coming from, that people should have a right to self-medication but prescription laws are there for a reason. Which is to prevent and alleviate overdose epidemics from people who abuse their medication. Changing the prescription requirements could potentially lead to a greater, dangerous outcome.

I definitely agree with what you are saying. I think that prescription laws are in place to prevent people from obtaining medications that they don’t necessarily need. I also disagree with her argument because I trust medical professionals to give me the best recommendations and if I want something different then I can talk to them about it. I just don’t really see the need for people to be able to get their own medication with about doctor approval.

I agree with you, we need doctors to give us all the information we need to make an informed decision. The time and schooling that goes into being a doctor give them the knowledge to be able to recommend prescriptions that I have no knowledge of, and I trust that.

I agree that prescription laws are there for a reason. Ignoring them could lead to a drug overdose problem in the country.
