About Cheryl Pallant


Cheryl Pallant, writer, poet, and dancer, teaches Contact Improvisation, Writing From the Body, and Movement Improvisation in the Theater and Dance Department. She has also taught Creative Writing and Introduction to Poetry. She is the author of Contact Improvisation: an Introduction to a Vitalizing Dance Form and eight books of poetry.

She received the Theresa Pollak Prize for Excellence in the Arts, was Finalist for the Virginia Books Award, the Southeastern Book Association Award, and the Bechtel Prize. She also received several grants from the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with the Richmond Arts Council. She recently performed “Tango in a Glass Elevator” at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
