Who we are

Colette Buser

Colette is a junior studying psychology and neuroscience. Over the summer, she worked as a research assistant at McLean Hospital studying psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia. During the school year, Colette volunteers at Chippenham Hospital in the NICU, works in Parsons Music Library with fellow group member Hannah, and sings in the Sirens a cappella group. She hopes to learn more about psychopathology as it relates to cognitive neuroscience in Psych 341.

Hannah Gertz

As a junior at the University of Richmond, Hannah majors in psychology with a minor in religious studies. When she’s not in class, you can find her working in Parson’s Music Library, despite her lack of musical talents, volunteering with Young Life, or being a part of her sorority. Hannah lived, worked, and played out at Westview on the James summer camp throughout the summer months where she got to wear overalls everyday and sing songs about bananas (very mature activities). She is interested in child psychology and brain development and hopes to understand them better through neuroscience.

Chelsea Flanigan

Chelsea is a senior at the University of Richmond majoring in biology with a minor in psychology. She is planning on entering the field of genetic counseling after her undergrad studies due to a strong interest in genetic diseases and inheritance patterns as well as a wonderful experience this past summer interning in NY at Madonna Perinatal Services. She is interested in learning more about the emotions that come along with the diagnosis of a genetic disease through the study of cognitive neuroscience. On campus Chelsea holds a leadership role in her sorority, Delta Delta Delta, and is a member of the Best Buddies chapter. Off campus she volunteers at The Hermitage Hills retirement home.

Annie Ryan

A junior at the University of Richmond, Annie is a biology and psychology major with a concentration in neuroscience. She hopes to go to veterinary school to become a wildlife veterinarian. Over the summer, she worked with a wildlife veterinarian in South Africa, as well as volunteered at a rhino rehabilitation clinic there. She is interested in learning about the effect neurodegenerative diseases have on cognition, as well as learn more about criminal psychology. In her spare time she volunteers at the Richmond SPCA and plays on the Club Tennis Team.

Tabitha Sullivan-Wallace

Tabitha is a senior at UofR majoring in psychology and minoring in dance. She hopes to get accepted and attend medical school to become a doctor, more specifically a dermatologist. Her other interests and involvement on campus include being a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority and the Spinnurs dance team. This summer she spent time taking extra classes at UofR while also shadowing under a local dermatologist. In the area of cognitive neuroscience Tabitha is most interested in brain injuries and the subsequent recoveries and plasticity of the brain.
