As the migrant crisis continues, Germany finds itself struggling with the influx of migrants. For many migrants, Germany is seen as a “promise land.” This year alone, over a  million of migrants entered Germany.  However, the tensions are high with the German people.   Migrants are considered to be an economic burden, as most are low-skilled workers. Matters have only worsened with the recent ISIS attack on Paris. Germans grow more dissatisfied with the government every day.  Chancellor Angela Merkel faces the brunt of dissatisfaction.  Her reputation continues to plummet with Germans. According to Spiegel, a German news magazine, her popularity steadily declines.   Recent polls show that she is no longer the most popular candidate, but that she is in fourth place.

Despite her decline in popularity, Chancellor Merkel refuses to limit incoming migrants. However, she and other European leaders have met to discuss the asylum policy.  In an effort to tighten asylum policy, a meeting of European leaders occurs this Sunday.  The meeting has the potential for a new approach to migrants not only in Germany, but all of Europe. POLITICO has the most recent updates on the meeting. The meeting is crucial to Merkel, if she wishes to be higher in polls.  The link is posted below.
