{"id":4108,"date":"2020-04-27T19:28:12","date_gmt":"2020-04-27T23:28:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/walkingrichmond\/?p=4108"},"modified":"2020-05-09T14:10:26","modified_gmt":"2020-05-09T18:10:26","slug":"living-history-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/walkingrichmond\/2020\/04\/27\/living-history-again\/","title":{"rendered":"Living History (Again)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>By Nina Joss<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>March 25<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I wonder how we\u2019ll look back at this age, this time when the world shut down.<br \/>\nLiving history\u2014a special adrenaline<br \/>\nI\u2019ll never get tired of.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s nostalgic once it\u2019s happened to you before\u2014maybe, in some ways,<br \/>\nthe last time felt bigger.<br \/>\nBut oh, it\u2019s different every time.<\/p>\n<p><em>April 5<\/em><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s like parallel experiences, 6 months apart.<br \/>\nOctober 18th \u2192 March 18th<br \/>\nWe cover our mouths and noses with scarves and bandannas still to leave the house,<br \/>\njust for a different reason now.<br \/>\nWe stay inside and leave when necessary.<br \/>\nI take my camera everywhere.<br \/>\nWe go for walks to learn.<br \/>\nWe play games and try to remind ourselves of normality.<br \/>\nWe cannot turn the news off.<br \/>\nWe know how to read each others\u2019 minds because we are all thinking the same thing.<br \/>\nWe wait to hear what the President says, how it will affect how we live.<br \/>\nWe feel united,<br \/>\njust for a different reason now.<br \/>\nWe are scared,<br \/>\njust for a different reason now.<br \/>\nI can\u2019t tell which one is scarier.<br \/>\nOr which is more inspiring.<\/p>\n<p>-the protests vs. the pandemic<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Nina Joss March 25 I wonder how we\u2019ll look back at this age, this time when the world shut down.
