Communications

Overview of communication tools available to SPCS staff.

Email

SpiderBytes

University-wide email digest, sent once daily, targeting one or more campus audiences (SPCS students, faculty & staff, etc.). Individuals are listed as senders. If you need to send a message from SPCS, contact the Communications Coordinator for assistance.

Radius CRM

Radius is our customer relationship manager (CRM). Certain staff members have login access to the tool for recording application, admissions, and prospect communications. Messages can be sent to select or all noncredit students, degree-program prospects, and certain other audiences through Radius. Contact the Communications Coordinator for assistance.

Social Media

Facebook

The SPCS Facebook page has over 1,000 followers. Staff are welcome to post as themselves or to request the Web Manager to post an item on their behalf. Posts should be professional and include a link, preferably to a page in the School’s website.

Twitter

The SPCS Twitter feed has over 350 followers. Staff are welcome to include our handle, @urscs, in their posts, or may request the Web Manager to post an item as the School. Again, posts should be professional and should include a link, preferably to a page on the School’s website.

LinkedIn

The SPCS LinkedIn group has over 400 followers. Staff are welcome and encouraged to post as themselves, as LinkedIn does not allow posting as a group entity. The group’s focus is career-related items, so look for ways to engage followers in career-related items. We encourage our degree-seeking students to join the UR Career Connections LinkedIn group, which is managed by University Career Services and connects students and alumni with jobs and employers.

Flickr

The SPCS Flickr site contains most of the official photos taken at SPCS events. If you have photos you’d like to see posted to this site, contact the Web Manager. Flickr albums can be included as a sidebar widget on some web pages – contact theWeb Manager for details.

Events Calendars

SPCS in the Community

The SPCS in the Community calendar is used to populate the SPCS calendar in this intranet and the SPCS in the Community webpage on the SPCS site. Members of the Events Committee can add events to the calendar, or you may contact the Web Manager for assistance. Events posted to this calendar are generally those occurring off campus, like conference tables or education fairs at local colleges and/or employers.

SPCS Events Calendar

The SPCS Events calendar is maintained in the University’s online events system. You can access these events using the University’s Events calendar and on the SPCS website using the SPCS Events section on home page. Events posted to this calendar should be held on campus and are generally free of charge. Contact the Web Manager to have an event posted.

Community Events Calendars

Certain major events can be posted to community events calendars like WCVE Artsline (MUST be arts-focused), Richmond.com / Richmond Times-Dispatch, Style Weekly, and CBS6. The Web Manager can add events or provide instructions on setting up an account to add your own events.
