Keller Hall

Keller Hall, named after Westhampton College’s first dean, Dr. May Lansfield Keller, was originally known as the “Women’s Building.”  In addition to a gymnasium, office space, and a tea room, from 1936-59 [?] it also housed the Music Department on its second floor.  Additionally, a music room was established on the third floor of the tower, to hold the grand piano and music collection donated by the parents of Margaret James, a Westhampton alumna who had died in 1931.  The Margaret James Room would later become the first home of the University’s music library.

In 1971, Bruce Springsteen and two other bands performed in the Keller Hall gymnasium.  The cost of a ticket: $2.50.
