This went so well. I had a pretty great time, especially since they let me wear my slides into the actual jail part. Rolling up, everyone in the bus was really nervous and jittery but I was feeling ready to go meet some new people. After we had all gotten our pat-downs, we went into the library and sat down, all anxiously waiting to meet with the guys.<\/p>\n
5 minutes after meeting them I was j chilling. I was in my element! All of the people there were from Virginia so I already had that in common with them, and one of my partners Dazavier went to a high school that one of my best friends also went to. Things started off pretty good for us also because we started as a group of three. Dazavier was paired with both me and Tilly so the conversations went a lot smoother. Eventually though, another guy showed up late and that\u2019s when Dazavier and I split into our own small group.<\/p>\n
During the poetry part of the night, we ended up having a lot of things in common. One thing that was a bit surprising was when he started talking about his friends. He told me about how once, they knocked a guy out cold, but he didn\u2019t give me any context at all\u2026 He just kind of brought it up randomly and didn\u2019t tell me why or what happened after, just that that event happened (which is something I hope to work on with him!).<\/p>\n
I think with a few more meetings we\u2019ll really begin to start sharing full stories with each other and things will get very interesting, very fast. I\u2019m very much looking forward to the rest of our meetings for sure!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
