style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Schedule: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Will be posted this week<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">All residents have been picked and oriented<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Our Role:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Purpose<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Allow residents to get to know us as students<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Forming peer to peer mentoring relationship<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Goal<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Non judgemental<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Form positive relationship for them to know you and you to know them<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Don\u2019t look at them as a criminal (be aware of their reason for being there but don\u2019t label)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Being willing to learn, listen, share, <\/span><b>engage<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, and be non-judgemental<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Be facilitator to be able to get work\/project done and stay on task<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Not allowed to ask why they are in there<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Average age:15-17 (One 14 year old)<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Pety\/Grand Larceny<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Shootings<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Assault\/Battery<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Theft <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Degree of trauma some\/most of experienced<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Violence<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sexual abuse\/harassment<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Death<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">High levels and frequency<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Trauma experienced before 12 often sticks with you throughout your life<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Developmental limitations<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Social skills<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Brain development<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Listening\/focus<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This work with them will benefit us and them<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">How to trust<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">How to open up<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">How to start\/keep conversations<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Question asked to us: Why are you here?<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Real responses<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For the class but you\u2019re there to learn more about them and do a project on stories for them<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Students have a great ability to know when people are not being honest\/real<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Always be honest\/real with them so they can trust you<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">**Know who you are before you go in**<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Confidence<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">There to get the job done<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Be prepared to answer questions honestly<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Show respect and show that you command respect<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Don\u2019t pity them<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Don\u2019t think you\u2019re in there to fix\/change them<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Natural\/Organic Pairing
