{"id":1229,"date":"2016-11-02T16:15:43","date_gmt":"2016-11-02T20:15:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/storytelling\/?p=1229"},"modified":"2016-11-07T14:02:04","modified_gmt":"2016-11-07T19:02:04","slug":"class-notes-11216","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/storytelling\/2016\/11\/02\/class-notes-11216\/","title":{"rendered":"Class Notes 11\/2\/16"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u2022 No mindfulness minute today- instead we had a free write based on the quote, \u201cwhat\u2019s in it for them?\u201d<br \/>\no (A few) Reasons given:<br \/>\n\uf0a7 Interesting to see the similarities and differences between our lives, even though generally our environments were very different<br \/>\n\uf0a7 Having a book to remember the telling of their stories in the future might be beneficial for the residents to have later in their life<br \/>\n\uf0a7 Really cool starfish story (\u201cit made a difference to that one\u2026\u201d)<br \/>\n\u2022 Don\u2019t give out your address to the residents\u2026.<br \/>\n\u2022 Maria hit someone with her car<br \/>\n\u2022 Don\u2019t run from the police<br \/>\n\u2022 Go to court if you get a speeding ticket and there\u2019s a 50\/50 chance you get out of paying fines, etc.<br \/>\n\u2022 This is more for us than just a grade<br \/>\no Dolson believes this is for us to also learn something about life, etc.<br \/>\no Give us more tools to go on and build relationships<br \/>\n\u2022 Just by telling these stories it seems like we\u2019re creating a community<br \/>\n\u2022 I completely missed the one thing that was said about the pdf we had to read (forgot to type, responder please help)<br \/>\n\u2022 Aristotle\u2019s triangle:<br \/>\no Teller- they have one way of seeing things, but have a reason to tell that story, to some person.<br \/>\no Listener- brings in their own perspectives to change purpose if they were ever to tell it again.<br \/>\no Purpose- lives in the mind of the Teller and the Listener.
