Class notes 11/16/16
Project stuff from the end of class:
- Some noticed topics/groupings for the stories:
- Futures and pasts, some stories don’t fit into either
- Often, themes of remorse/regret in the stories
- Goals for todays discussion:
- We need to decide what each group is doing, and put them together
- Intro, conclusion? Extra stuff like letters or poems
- Audience
- Comparison might be good, because our audience might want to see similarities between people
- Problem: often some people’s stories don’t show that much similarity
- Might want to focus on helping the residents there, not just our guys.
- The residents might assume the label of criminals, because that’s what everyone tells them they are
- Want to show the outside people that they aren’t what everyone tells them they are
- Every group was unique, why try to make all the stories fit together
- Show the individuality of everyone’s relationships
- Scrapbook idea brought up again, collection of 3 segments (Sun, Mon, and Tues).
- Each night would get together and decide on the book, doesn’t have to just be words
- Each section would end up with its own personality, because it would be a collection of each groups experience and stuff
- Try not to sound condescending or anything in the scrapbook! -Ally
- Needs to sound authentic, organic, don’t just try to appease them
- How they affected you, be conscious of what they can/can’t see through
- Rainy > Dave???
- Can have some color, not tooooo much though
- Need to be
- Redo’s are due after thanksgiving
- We’ll have Monday to work together to get stuff done with our projects
- Cover, title, inro (?), conclusion (?), etc
- Write something up and try and say what you plan on doing
- Need one quote from SAAWK for the big connection paper (the one due Dec. 9th)
- Comparison might be good, because our audience might want to see similarities between people
