Bon Air week 4

Before we went to Bon Air, Professor Dolson told us that she would not be with us for this time. To be honest, at first I was really nervous about it, because I was afraid of something awkward would happen, like everybody kept quite for a really long time. However, our meeting was much better than I thought.

At first, we talked a little bit about the prompt, like what did we do this weekend and our best halloween experiences. Than our conversation just became totally natural.  Eric and Trenton talked a lot about sports. However, Jordan seemed like he was not in that mood and he just kept quiet for the most time.

The most interesting part is that I can see how group talk and one-to-one talk influence conversations. Specifically, Eric was more willing to talk his own experiences when we did one-to-one talk. Moreover, his responses to the sports and his halloween experiences were so different yesterday.  He was really talkative when we talked about the sports. However, he basically said nothing about his past experience.

The most moving part is that when we talked about all kinds of sports, I basically said nothing. Eric seemed noticed that and he just spontaneously asked me about Chinese tradition about Halloween. He tried to get me involved  in the conversation and alleviate my embarrassment.

Overall, this meeting was really interesting and made me think a lot about the influence of different talk forms.
