Bon Air – Week Three
Unfortunately, last week I was sick and unable to go to Bon Air with my group for the second week. So whilst everyone was talking to their partner for the third time, I was talking to mine for a second.
However, it felt as if I had been there last week from the way my partner was so open and willing to have conversations. I didn’t really have to prompt him with questions after we told our stories because he would just talk on him own. I noticed how he spent a lot of time with his cousin and brother, how they seemed to be the most important people in his life. In fact, his best day ever was just a day out in the yard, eating and talking with his family. We also talked about how we are both easily scared. I talked about how my friends always like to jump out a me to get me to scream and he told me stories of his cousin and him pranking each other. He seemed genuinely happy to be talking to me and telling his own story.
I also loved all the group discussions we had this time. Conversation seemed to flow naturally and it was easy for us to be genuine and laugh with each other. We talked about our favorite animals, though two people did not like animals at all, as well as the boys winning a basketball game. I was extremely pleased with myself and my peers for successfully facilitating engaging conversation about our identities and traveling to Bon Air by ourselves for the first time.
