Second Time at Bon Air

Going to the prison this time, I felt excited to talk with my partner, Shanard. After our last session, I felt like we had lots of empty discussion and awkward pauses. This time I was determined to get to know his personality. During our first discussion, which was to talk about our first day of school, I quickly told him about my first day of college and tried to pay more attention to him. He said that he did not really remember his first day of school, so I tried to ask him about his school life in general. We ended up talking about all the different sports we remember playing as kids and how much we both liked recess as children. I was glad to see Shanard’s personality during our group discussions and our one on one conversations. Turns out he is actually a very funny person and he has a great sense of humor. During our next discussion, we talked about personal things, like our favorite types of music and movies. Leaving Bon Air this time I really felt like we made more of a connection as friends and I got more out of Shanard then last time.

Next time we meet I’d like to hear more about his teenage years since this time I felt like we spoke more about our childhoods. He also briefly mentioned his family which I would like to hear more about as well.
