Origin Story

I picked the Xingu Indian story of the creation of man. I picked this story because it is not a typical creation story that explains how the world was created, but is instead a story of the human condition. Rather than explain anything, this story simply describes the cycle of human life, but does so in a way that is framed as an origin story. I find it fascinating how it still remains true today regardless of how different things are from when the story was first told. As I tend to think very philosophically, this story is quite similar to some of the things I think on a daily basis and I feel like I have a strong connection to it. I’m definitely interested in telling sharing this story with the class, and I think I can tell it in a very unique way.
