Two Stories
I feel like I being told two stories. While reading the Juvenile Justice book and seeing the pictures of miserable looking children, a deep and dismal picture is painted in my mind. Then Beverly comes in and tells us that the facility has two schools, programs like anger management and mental health counseling, and renovating facilities. This painted a picture that reminded me more of a high school, nothing like the places show in the pictures. I am curious to see what Bon Air will actually be like for us. The fact that the stories I am hearing are painting such different pictures is very concerning to me. Often in large systems, the people at the top are not aware of how their decisions impact the lives of the people at the bottom. On paper, it seems that the correctional facilities are giving inmates a passible quality of life. However, from the pictures in the Juvenile Justice book it is clear that this may not be the case.
