What I bring to the classroom

In this specific classroom setting, I want to offer my own unique perspective to each discussion. I want my role in this class to be one that helps build a “narrative” as we say. Getting the most out of my college experience, to me, includes learning about different people’s backgrounds and opinions to expand upon my own. I would generally consider myself a very outgoing and outspoken person so I want to try my best to let others speak in order to learn new perspectives. I’d also like to not only become a good listener, but a compassionate one who can take away personal meaning. By being a good listener, I feel it helps the class when it comes time to participate again. When i’m participating in a discussion and someone mention something I had previously said, its a comforting feeling to know that people are taking away meaning and actually listening to what I am saying. This also becomes a crucial aspect in the foundations of both storytelling and identity.
