What I bring to the Classroom

Over the course of the semester, I hope to incorporate my listening skills into this classroom. I would definitely say that I’m a listener rather than a talker. Growing up, I always seemed to be listening to my friends’ and siblings’ problems, so I’ve had a lot of practice becoming an empathetic listener. I do, however, like to give advice and will sometimes add my own opinions and interjections, so I have to be aware of that when in the classroom. Going off that, when it comes to adding my own ideas, I tend to not say as much as others in the classroom, but when I do I like to put a lot into what I say. Although I might only speak once or twice in a class period, I really like to take time to think about what I am going to say and formulate it perfectly before sharing. I’m typically not the type of person to go off the cuff because I want to make sure what I’m saying is clear before speaking.
