Lena- First Impressions

When first driving onto the prison grounds, I was surprised, as someone mentioned in class, at how much outdoor space there was for outdoor recreational activities. I saw some basketball and tennis courts, which was reassuring to see, as physical activities correlates to better mental health. Stepping inside the facility, it felt more like a waiting room for a doctors office then a prison. The women working inside were very laid back and willing to help make the process as simple as possible. The positive environment and simplicity of the finger printing process makes me eager to start making connections with my peer and develop a positive narrative.
