Kristen’s First Bon Air Post
Bon Air First Impressions
I have been to a correctional facility before to visit with someone who was incarcerated, so many of my expectations were shaped by that experience. When we drove onto the campus I was shocked by how clean and spread out the grounds were. I expected to see officers standing outside every door, including the center we went into. The casual nature of the woman who finger printed us surprised me, if I passed her on the street I would have never guessed where she worked. The process of being fingerprinted with all the paperwork frustrated me and made me wonder what other flaws in process may exist in something run by the government. I noticed as we drove in that the grass was well kept, and it almost looked like a school to me, except for the fences of wire. I am curious to find out what the other buildings look like on the inside and meet the kids we will be working with and have them surprise me too.
