Bon Air First Impression
Bon Air was definitely not what I had pictured in my head prior to going there on Friday. I didn’t exactly come up with a descript picture of what I thought it would be like, but for some reason I was shocked by the barbed wire and fence all the way around. Obviously a jail is going to have those things, but I didn’t prepare myself enough to know what was coming. There was also a lot of outdoor space and I wasn’t expecting that either. I had always pictured jails being a couple large buildings and occasionally open spaces but not much. I was also expecting the fingerprinting process to be much more tedious and extensive, however it was quite painless and actually pretty easy. The amount of paper work somewhat built up an expectation in my mind that I would be grilled with questions and be nervously awaiting some kind of big result. I also wondered what got those people working there to want to work there. I wanted to know why they chose to work at a jail and what makes them stick around. Anything to do with the law system intrigues most people, including me, and being there really made me want to get started and learn all I can learn about the jail and the kids in it.
