The Dark Side of The Moon’s Success

The Dark Side of the Moon was undoubtedly successful as an album. It’s uniqueness, authenticity and listening experience propelled its success. The album proved to be one of the greatest selling of all time with an estimated figure of 45 million copies sold. The success of The Dark Side of the Moon does not stop with record. The concept album was featured prominently and consistently through numerous chart positions. In 1973, it was featured at the #1 position on the US Billboard 200. The album was also certified as platinum 15 times. Pink Floyd engineer Alan Parsons even received a Grammy Award for Best Engineered Recording. In 2012, Rolling Stones magazine came out with their 500 Greatest Albums of All Time and The Dark Side of the Moon was featured at number 43. One might consider that these feats were aided due to the economic climate as well as their inherently inventive/innovative way of performing for their listeners.
