-The Duke laments that Angelo “kills for faults of his own liking.”\u00a0 He remarks that Angelo will be revealed as a hypocrite and\u00a0suffer the consequences of his actions.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
-Escalus leaves to visit Claudio.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
-The Duke tells Escalus that he has been counseling Claudio, and Claudio is prepared for death.\u00a0<\/p>\n
-Escalus tells the Duke that he has been pleading with\u00a0Angelo for Claudio’s release, but if it is not granted, Claudio must be prepared for death.\u00a0<\/p>\n
-Escalus says that\u00a0Lucio will have to answer to Mistress Overdone’s claims.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
-Mistress\u00a0Overdone accuses Lucio of getting Kate Keepdown pregnant.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
-Escalus, Provost, and Officers with Mistress Overdone enter.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
-Lucio leaves.<\/p>\n
-Lucio responds that he would have no fear of doing so.\u00a0<\/p>\n
-The Duke defends “The Duke.”\u00a0 He asks Lucio if he would say these things to the Duke’s face.<\/p>\n
-Lucio remarks about Angelo’s poor leadership and overuse of punishment.\u00a0 He says that punishment will not deter sin, for it is in human nature.\u00a0 Lucio makes remarks about the Duke.\u00a0<\/p>\n
-The Duke responds he has no idea.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
-Lucio asks\u00a0the disguised\u00a0Duke if he knows where the Duke is.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
-Lucio enters.\u00a0<\/p>\n
