{"id":182,"date":"2008-11-16T17:20:22","date_gmt":"2008-11-16T21:20:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/script_analysis\/2008\/11\/16\/but-do-it-backwards-act-2\/"},"modified":"2008-11-16T17:20:55","modified_gmt":"2008-11-16T21:20:55","slug":"but-do-it-backwards-act-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.richmond.edu\/script_analysis\/2008\/11\/16\/but-do-it-backwards-act-2\/","title":{"rendered":"But Do It Backwards- Act 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Eric Houdek\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>-Isabella decides to go visit Claudio in prison and tell him of Angelo&#8217;s request.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>-Angelo tells Isabella that nobody will believe her.\u00a0 He also adds that if she does not accept his proposition, her brother will suffer a long and painful death.\u00a0 Angelo tells Isabella that she has one day to decide whether she will accept his proposition and exits.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>-Isabella threatens to tell everyone about Angelo&#8217;s request.<\/p>\n<p>-Angelo reasserts that\u00a0Claudio will not die if \u00a0Isabella does accepts his request for sexual relations.\u00a0 The seriousness of his request is established.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>-Isabella tells Angelo that he is a hypocrite for putting Claudio death for loving Juliet, while he is in the act of stating his love for her.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>-Angelo tells Isabella that she is being just as much as a tyrant as she is accusing him of being.\u00a0 He adds that he truly loves her.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>-Isabella claims that she cannot redeem her brother\u00a0through sin.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>-Angelo asks Isabella if she would have sexual relations with him in order to save her brother.\u00a0 (&#8220;treasures of your body&#8221;)<\/p>\n<p>-Isabella responds that it would be worth\u00a0a sin to save her brother life.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>-Angelo asks Isabella if it would be worth sin to save her brother&#8217;s life.<\/p>\n<p>Scene 3<\/p>\n<p>-The\u00a0Duke tells Juliet that he will leave to see her lover, who will die the next day.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>-Juliet repents her sin.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>-The Duke realizes that the sexual encounter between Claudio and Juliet was consentual.(&#8220;mutually committed&#8221;)\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>-The Duke initiates conversation with Juliet, asking her if she repents of her sin.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>-Juliet enters the prison.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>-The Duke enters the prison disguised as a Friar.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Scene 2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>-Angelo realizes that he sexually desires Juliet.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>-As she leaves, Isabella tells Angelo that she would bribe him.<\/p>\n<p>-Angelo tells Isabella to return the next day.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>-Isabella continues to plead with\u00a0Angelo.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>-Lucio tells\u00a0Isabella to touch\u00a0Angelo.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0Isabella continues to plead with Angelo.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>-Lucio tells Isabella to continue pleading with Angelo.<\/p>\n<p>-Angelo tells Isabella that those who break the law must be punished.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>-Isabella says she abhors\u00a0Claudio&#8217;s vice, but begs for his pardon.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>-Isabella enters.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Eric Houdek\u00a0 -Isabella decides to go visit Claudio in prison and tell him of Angelo&#8217;s request.\u00a0 -Angelo tells Isabella that nobody will believe her.\u00a0 He also adds that if she does not accept his proposition, her brother will suffer a long and painful death.\u00a0 Angelo tells Isabella that she has one day to decide &hellip;
