POP-date
During these two weeks off, I began to clean up my POP idea and decided to focus on digital equity in rural communities. Teachers are tasked to use creative initiatives to teach our students, and since COVID, there has been a push to use technology and virtual activities. In theory, it is a perfect scenario to have virtual activities so if kids are absent, they can still participate, but what if you have unreliable or no internet/broadband… From what I have seen, we have become problem solvers in providing hot spots and using our personal devices for hot spot connections, but with the funding going away for the hot spots and with the new phone ban, these creative solutions are no longer available. For my POP- I want to focus on more creative solutions and how we don’t have to let policy get in the way of our practice. I started researching this problem on Google to see what other counties and schools are doing. I also researched my school’s budget plans to see what they are doing with the technology budget.
