They were very interesting and influential they talked about their work that they do. They gave us a very interesting presentation on what it’s like to be a cartoonist and the day to day task that they complete. They started to work in a comic bookstore and a library where they fell in love with comics, they started to make comics but didn’t publish any until the store closed. They have many comics that they are a part of they took control of a comic called “Heart Of the city” recently and is set to be the author for years. This is a daily comic, but they told us they draw the strips weeks in advance. They told us that the comics are passed through a big team, and she draws and shades part of the comic, but they have a person to colour their strips. they provided us guidance on establishing connections with other creators, attending conventions and events, and networking within the comic book industry. In the presentation they mention they are very busy and only draw for work. From Steenz coming in I got a greater understanding of how the comic industry works. Also learning about the creative process behind comics such as illustration and design was a key takeaway. It enabled me to interact with practical advice and ideas from a person who is very knowledgeable about their profession.

Steenz came to visit our class over zoom last week.
