Will Kent Reflection
After listening to Will Kent speak and present to the class, I learned many things, especially about Wikidata. He walked us through intrusions on how to use Wikidata step by step which was very helpful for me. He touched upon ways we can visualize information and data we see, as well as ways to make connections with the data we are looking at. Kent showed us project pages and explained how other people are able to access your project to contribute to it, even after it has been posted. After Kent visited it really showed us how amazing technology is and what we can do with it. I never knew what Wikidata was before this class as well as Kents visit, so it just shows how much more there is out there that we still don’t know about. Due to Covid-19 I was familiar with Zoom, but I think Kent being able to talk to us from across the country is amazing . Technology opens up so many doors for us; without it, we wouldn’t be able to have the ability to stay connected to people, as well as the ability to create connections with people from around the world. This can tie into our discussion on what is Digital Humanities and how we can use technology to communicate with one another. Overall, this was a very informative presentation that helped me. I am still continuing to learn about Wikidata, so listening to him was very helpful. I think that due to listening to Kent, my understanding of the class and how to use Wikidata has grown and as a result will create me to produce better work.
